Palate Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Palate mobile app ('Palate', 'we', 'us'). Palate may use your account email address, first name, last name, sign-in state, language preference, saved restaurants and videos, your dish votes if you use Community Picks, your phone number if you verify it to vote, and device location if you allow location access while using the map. Your phone number is used once to confirm you are a real person in Kuwait and to keep voting to one ballot per person; we store only a hashed (unreadable) form of it, never the number itself. Your device location is used only on your device to show your position on the map — Palate does not transmit your device location to our servers, and we do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own use.
2. How We Use Information
We use this information to provide app features such as signing in, resetting your password, showing saved restaurants and videos, showing your current location on the map if you allow location access, remembering app preferences, and keeping the app fast and up to date. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Location
Palate asks for location permission when you open the map. If you allow location access, Palate uses your location to show where you are on the map and help you find reviewed restaurants nearby. You can turn off location access at any time in your device's settings. The map also works without location access — you can browse restaurants without granting it.
4. Third-Party Services
Palate uses Supabase for account sign-up, sign-in, password reset, and account deletion; Twilio to deliver phone verification codes if you verify your number to vote (Twilio receives your phone number for that delivery only); Mapbox for maps and location-based map display; Cloudflare for loading app images and video thumbnails; and Instagram links and publicly available Instagram content for food review videos. These services may receive technical request data needed to provide their services, such as IP address, map requests, image requests, or location-related requests. These services have their own privacy policies. Palate may display publicly available third-party food review content, thumbnails, metadata, restaurant information, and links to original sources. All third-party content remains owned by its original creators or rights holders.
5. Data Storage
Some app data is stored locally on your device. Account data is handled through Supabase. Public images, thumbnails, and app content may be loaded through Cloudflare or other external sources to keep the app fast and up to date.
6. Data Security
We handle personal data securely. All data sent between the app and our service providers (Supabase, Mapbox, Cloudflare) is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Account data stored with Supabase is protected by access controls, and we limit access to personal data to what is needed to operate the app.
7. Data Retention
We keep your account data (email address, first and last name, and saved restaurants and videos) only for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, this data is deleted from our systems within 30 days, except for minimal records we may need to keep for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. Data stored only on your device (such as language preference) is removed when you uninstall the app.
8. Account Deletion
If you create an account, you can delete it at any time inside the app: Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and its associated data — including your email address, name, and saved restaurants and videos — from our systems. If you no longer have the app installed, you can request account and data deletion without reinstalling it at https://palate-assets.trypalate.workers.dev/delete-account or by emailing usepalate@gmail.com from your account's email address.
9. Children's Privacy
Palate is suitable for general audiences, but it is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at usepalate@gmail.com.
11. Removal and Correction Requests
If you are a creator, restaurant, or rights holder and want content removed, corrected, or updated, contact us at usepalate@gmail.com and we will review the request.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the 'Last updated' date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.

2. كيف نستخدم المعلومات
نستخدم هذه المعلومات لتشغيل ميزات التطبيق مثل تسجيل الدخول، إعادة تعيين كلمة المرور، عرض المحفوظات، إظهار موقعك الحالي على الخريطة إذا سمحت بذلك، تذكّر تفضيلاتك، وإبقاء التطبيق سريعًا ومحدّثًا. نحن لا نبيع معلوماتك الشخصية.
3. الموقع
يطلب باليت إذن الموقع عند فتح الخريطة. إذا سمحت بذلك، يستخدم التطبيق موقعك لإظهار مكانك على الخريطة ومساعدتك في العثور على مطاعم تمت مراجعتها بالقرب منك. يمكنك إيقاف إذن الموقع في أي وقت من إعدادات جهازك. وتعمل الخريطة أيضًا دون إذن الموقع — يمكنك تصفح المطاعم دون منحه.
4. خدمات الطرف الثالث

6. أمان البيانات
نتعامل مع البيانات الشخصية بشكل آمن. جميع البيانات المنقولة بين التطبيق ومزوّدي الخدمة لدينا (Supabase وMapbox وCloudflare) مشفّرة أثناء النقل عبر HTTPS/TLS. بيانات الحساب المخزّنة لدى Supabase محمية بضوابط وصول، ونحصر الوصول إلى البيانات الشخصية بما يلزم لتشغيل التطبيق.
7. الاحتفاظ بالبيانات
نحتفظ ببيانات حسابك (البريد الإلكتروني، الاسم الأول واسم العائلة، والمطاعم والفيديوهات المحفوظة) طالما بقي حسابك قائماً فقط. إذا حذفت حسابك، تُحذف هذه البيانات من أنظمتنا خلال 30 يوماً، باستثناء سجلات محدودة قد نحتاج الاحتفاظ بها للأمان أو منع الاحتيال أو الالتزام القانوني. البيانات المخزّنة على جهازك فقط (مثل تفضيلات اللغة) تُزال عند إلغاء تثبيت التطبيق.
8. حذف الحساب
إذا أنشأت حساباً، يمكنك حذفه في أي وقت من داخل التطبيق: الحساب ← حذف الحساب. حذف الحساب يزيل حسابك وبياناته المرتبطة — بما في ذلك بريدك الإلكتروني واسمك ومحفوظاتك — من أنظمتنا نهائياً. إذا لم يعد التطبيق مثبتاً لديك، يمكنك طلب حذف الحساب والبيانات دون إعادة تثبيته عبر https://palate-assets.trypalate.workers.dev/delete-account أو بمراسلتنا على usepalate@gmail.com من البريد الإلكتروني المرتبط بحسابك.
9. خصوصية الأطفال
باليت مناسب للجمهور العام، لكنه غير موجّه خصيصاً للأطفال. نحن لا نجمع عن علم معلومات شخصية من الأطفال دون 13 عاماً. إذا علمنا أننا جمعنا معلومات شخصية من طفل دون 13 عاماً، فسنحذفها.
10. حقوقك
